Project pulse

About the project
Systemic sustainability learning

A shared digital home for ideas, pilots, and school transformation.

The project's aim is to shift sustainability education from simple individual actions to systemic solutions by empowering schools to act as catalysts for environmental change. Through The GreenHUB online platform, the project connects students, educators, and policymakers across Europe to share best practices, collaborate on cross-border initiatives, and co-develop systemic solutions.

Vision

Design for system change

Our vision is to transform traditional schools into active, living sustainability hubs where students do not just learn about the environment, but actively lead the change and shape policy for a sustainable future.

Approach

Learning by doing

We combine hands-on experimentation in student-led Living Labs, such as repair cafes and zero-waste cafeterias, with digital collaboration and participatory governance to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world implementation.

Why this matters

Traditional environmental education often fails to tackle the complex, systemic root causes of climate change. By embedding critical eco-literacy into curricula and equipping students with essential leadership and advocacy skills, SYSTEM-HUBS prepares a new generation of proactive citizens. This initiative ultimately drives long-term, scalable impact by integrating these innovative educational models directly into European school systems and professional teacher training programs.
